Video Share: Nobody Tells This To Beginners
One of my favorite quotes about creating is from Ira Glass that starts off "Nobody tells this to people who are beginners..." Someone recently took it to You Tube and made a creative video demonstrating this (now) famous quote. I love it, and wanted to share it with you, my fellow creatives. Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteThe other thing people need to realize is that sometimes even when you have a lot of experience, you make something really ugly. Then your job is to figure out why it is ugly. If you don't make something ugly once in a while, you aren't pushing yourself enough.
So true Laura! I have made many ugly things over the years and if I think back, I learned something from all of them too.
DeleteThank you so much for sharing that. I'm an admin on a Facebook quilting group and I'd like to share that with a quilting Facebook group I'm one of the admins for. I hope to inspire our members who are new to quilting and particularly free motion quilting to keep going, it will come with time! The failures are where we learn the most!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Sooli and thanks for stopping by! You are so right that we learn most from failures. One of my favorite books is Failing Forward by John Maxwell. Great lesson for everyone to learn...hard sometimes to remember when we're in the "thick" of creating, LOL.
DeleteGreat video Tanesha and so true. Thanks for sharing and happy new year!!
ReplyDeleteWorth keeping in a prominent place to watch again and again.
