It's been a tough week, but I am coming out of the "my friend died of cancer that took her in less than 6 months from diagnosis, leaving behind a husband and 3 kids on the verge of adulthood just when they would need her guidance most and her husband who had been looking forward to being an empty-nester with his best friend of 20+ years is now facing a future he didn't see coming along with a mountain of hospital bills" feelings of bitterness, melancholy, and shell-shock to a place of solid thankfulness.
Thankful she wasn't in pain at the end.
Thankful she got to say goodbye to her family.
Thankful I got to see her smile one last time.
Thankful I am able to come home to my own family.
Thankful to have known her.
Just thankful.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
