F.O. (Finally!!): At Home in the Woods Quilt

It's finally got a sleeve and is hung in our entryway. I think it's quite a show-stopper if I do say so myself!

The entire top is done using fusible applique!

Pattern: At Home in the Woods by McKenna Ryan. This was a BOM (block-of-the-month) from waaaaaay back in 2003 or 2004. So much for staying on track with that, LOL. In any case, I am in love with this quilt no matter how long it took to finish, and smile with pride every time I pass it. I have 2 more BOM's from McKenna Ryan in my stash, and even if it takes me another 8-10 years to make those, I'd say it's well worth the wait, wouldn't you?

  3. Wow -- I remember seeing that BOM in a catalog "way back then" (snort!) and I loved it but didn't order it because I was afraid it would be beyond my skill level and I wouldn't be able to finish it. Yours is gorgeous. Congratulations on a beautiful finish!

  13. I signed up when this Keepsake Quilting's Block of the Month and then waited until I had all of them before beginning to put it together.

Never again. Do them as you get them!

I did mine for my Grandson and hangs in "his" room at my house - too expensive for a novice (he is 21) to care for.

I am putting a price tag on the back of it for my sons-in-heirs to be sure they know just how expensive this completed quilt is.

I saw it listed in July of this year for over $1,800.00 @ Northern Sky Quilts.

  25. There are certainly a lot of details like that to take into consideration. That is a great point to bring up. I offer the thoughts above as general inspiration but clearly there are questions like the one you bring up where the most important thing will be working in honest good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged around things like that, but I am sure that your job is clearly identified as a fair game. Both boys and girls feel the impact of just a moment?s pleasure, for the rest of their lives.
