Sam: Mommy, is your birthday soon?
Me: Yes, remember I said it was Saturday?
Sam: That's after Thursday right?
Me: Yes, and after Friday.
Sam: Is your party on Saturday?
Me: No, no party. We're going to dinner though.
Sam: No party?!?!
Me: Nope.
Sam: Mommy, I'll ask Daddy to take you to Chuck E. Cheese like for my birthday.
Me: Believe me when I say this Sammy. Chuck E. Cheese is the last place Mommy wants to go for her birthday dinner.
Sam: Why, because they don't have wine?
....that kid knows me a little too well don't you think? Ha!

Little Sam seems to know quite a bit about life, indeed :)
ReplyDeleteScandinavian Stitches is a beautiful book!! Thank you for doing this.
On my birthday, I like to have a nice romantic time with my husband: go for a walk, go to a good restaurant, or have a nice special dinner at home.
(my email address is in my Blogger profile).
Great story. For me I always try to take the day off from work. I have two girls, 5 and 7. So that day off is a great gift to myself. Carlynkeylor@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI love the Sam stories! The things kids say. I love to relax on my birthday with a casual family dinner (out, of course). It is always fun to see where the birthday girl/boy picks to go eat. My son asked for McDonalds - is he kidding?
ReplyDeletep.s. I still laugh every time I get McDonald's fries and my car smells. I loved that podcast.

I love to go to the movies on my birthday. Agree with you that Chuck E. Cheese would be the last place I would want to go for my birthday...not only because they don't sell wine! Great story!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I have four year old twin boys, so I can relate.
ReplyDeleteI love to spend the day with my husband and boys on my birthday, sometimes with my parents and brother's family as well.
Have a great day, Tanesha!
On my birthday I like to go out for a meal with my family - if this can include my 2 year old niece all the better. thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteYou just got the "do as we say and not as we do" smackdown.
ReplyDeleteI like to either go to Seattle and sew with a friend or hang out at home completely alone - nobody else in the house. Perfect meals, delivered, of course. ;-)

PS Why do you have no search box on your blog?
My husbands birthday is two weeks after mine, usually we plan a fall trip. This covers both of our birthday's. On the actual birthday love having family around and cake to make birthday wishes.
ReplyDeleteMy DH and I have the same birthday. I make dessert, he makes the meal. VermontPines@aol.com
ReplyDeleteI always feel guilty, but on my birthday I love spending the day on my own doing crafty endeavors, and spending the evening having dinner and dessert with family and friends.
ReplyDeleteAwe... your daughter is a crack up! How sweet. For my birthday I usually bake my own cake, chocolate with chocolate frosting. That's cause my daughters and husband always have pie on their BD's. How could you want a BD pie?! We go out to dinner, I get to pick the place, and it's usually all of us along with the token boyfriends (who never want to pass up a free meal - lol). Then we have cake and all play a game together, to get some family fun time in. This year we played the domino game, Mexcian Train. Other times it's been Scrabble, or the card game Skip-Bo. It's amazing how we all turn in to these highly competitive, loud laughing creatures!
